The Non-Filters: Lies n Controversy

Dos Available for download - December 4, 2011

The Non-Filters: Dos

Recording Again? - September 9, 2011

There are rumors circulating that the Non-Filters are already back in the studio recording the follow-up to this year's Dos album.  Sources say the new album will be called Tres or Trace, but the sources may not be accurate.  Sources also say that the band sold two copies of Dos and are hoping the pattern will hold and they will sell three copies of Tres.

ERIC BAKER'S NON-FILTERS ZIPPO LOST AT NICHOLASVILLE MCDONALDS! - July 17, 2011

After a show Friday night, The Non-Filters Touring Party made their way to the McDonalds on the Nicholasville Bypass at about 1:30 am.  After waiting in the drivethru for their order, they sat on the curb and ate their meals.  Eric Baker left his handrolled cigarettes in their custom tin case laying on the curb underneath his one-of-a-kind custom engraved Zippo Lighter, complete with The Non-Filters Smoking Heart logo.  Any information leading to the return of this lighter will be rewarded.

New Dates - June 4, 2011

The Non-Filters have added two shows at Momma's Last Chance Saloon in Nicholasville on July 15th and 16th, and one show at Patchen Pub on August 20th.  More dates soon.  The Dos album is selling like Ford GTs.  Mostly special orders from people with peculiar taste.

Death of a Hero - May 20, 2011

Randy "Macho Man" Savage died today in Tampa, FL.  He may have suffered a heart attack before his car crash.  Eric Baker described Savage as a 'childhood hero'.

Decent Exposure 2011 - April 17, 2011

The Non-Filters will be trying for WKQQ's Decent Exposure crown.  They wil be playing Friday, April 22nd at Bar Lexington for the first round.  The contest is based entirely on crowd votes at this point, so bands that don't bring their crowd with them stand no chance of winning.  No pressure, but you better be there.

Z.I.P. Records - February 13, 2011

The Non-Filters are in the final planning stages of starting their own record label, Z.I.P. Records.  The label will, of course, be home to The Non-Filters, but they do not rule out signing other acts.

THE END OF THE WHITE STRIPES - February 3, 2011

Rumors have run wild today that Meg White, formerly of The White Stripes, is in negotiations to join The Non-Filters.  In separate telephone interviews, Baker and Sadler both refused to confirm or deny the rumors.

Recording - December 26, 2010

The Non-Filters are back in the studio recording their follow-up to 2010's 'Killing Snakes' and 'Civil Sobriety'.  Producer Shifty Caldwell says the album features no side musicians, only Lee Sadler and Eric Baker.  No release date has been set.

THEY'RE DROPPING LIKE FLIES - October 14, 2010

The Non-Filters are not unlike a small nation with a great plague.  Half of their population has been wiped out.  Help!

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK - October 13, 2010

Bill Shewmaker quit the band tonight. I've never been much sadder, but I would never try to talk him out of it. There's still two of us, and we'll find people to fill in the gaps. I won't ever forget the nights the four of us played together. That includes me, Lee, Bill, and Kipp. I sure can't remember every note, but I have noth...ing but good memories overall. Not everybody feels the same about anything. I considered quitting when Bill told me, but only for a split second. If I had've, it would've only lasted a split second anyway. I can't quit playing music anymore than I can quit eating or sleeping. You know you really love something when you really don't care if anybody else is really interested in it or not. I would do it if only three people showed up to hear us (wait, that happened already, our last gig). Really, I promote it for all I got, and love nothing more than seeing a big crowd, but, once I play the first note, it doesn't matter if anybody's there or not. Kinda like loving somebody that don't necessarily love you back. It doesn't really matter. You got it bad anyway. I'll be fine when they put me in the retirement home someday as long as they let me take my guitar. I'll set up a show every Friday night, but it'll have to be over by 8:00 I guess. At least everybody will be forced to be there. Thanks to Bill and Kipp for giving me such good memories and being there to push me as I first got past my shyness of playing in front of a crowd. Bet y'all didn't know that when me and Bill first started playing together, he had to sing cause I was too self-conscious. Me and Lee will be playing with somebody at The Dragon in Frankfort the night after Thanksgiving. Come see us, or don't. I'll love every minute of it either way (but it'll be better if you're there).

Dumpstaphunk - October 5, 2010

The Non-Filters would just like to say that they are honored to play on a stage that was, a handful of nights earlier, inhabited by Dumpstaphunk, featuring Ivan Neville.  Eric Baker attended the show and was in awe.

THREE PIECE CHICKEN DINNER - September 29, 2010

It appears The Non-Filters are playing as a three piece band, at least for the time being, to some of the best reviews of their career.

THE END OF AN ERA BUT NOT THE END - September 24, 2010

Kipp Ballard has left The Non-Filters.  They will be attempting a show tomorrow night at Macadoo's in Frankfort, KY.  Please help out and attend.  Cheers drown out poor playing.

SHEWMAKER-LOHAN CONNECTON - August 24, 2010

Rumors continue to circulate that Non-Filters guitarist Bill Shewmaker pulled some strings to get Lyndsay Lohan out of jail early.  Shewmaker was seen visiting Lohan several times during her incarcaration, and insiders say the two have been meeting every Tuesday at La Fonda's in Harrodsburg since her release.  It is unclear whether or not she will attend the band's upcoming show at The Grapevine on September 4th.

The Non-Filters at The Grapevine Tonight - July 9, 2010

The Non-Filters will be performing their only scheduled show for the summer tonight at The Grapevine 4104 Tates Creek Center Drive, Lexington, KY.

LEE SADLER ENTERS THE FASHION ARENA - May 23, 2010

Non-Filters bassist Lee Sadler has announced he will be offering a clothing line this fall.  The Sadler Collection has been picked up by retail giant K-Mart in an attempt by the company to offset slow sales and the loss of the Martha Stewart brand.  The Sadler Collection will be dominant in K-Mart's men's clothing department as Jacklyn Smith is dominant in their women's department.  Sadler describes the upcoming fashions as 'sporty-casual' and 'forward-looking'.

FAIR CITY LIGHTS WIN FIRST ROUND OF DECENT EXPOSURE - February 20, 2010

The Non-Filters would like to congratulate Fair City Lights for their win in the first round of Decent Exposure last night.  The Non-Filters tied for third with Gatewood Galbraith.

NON-FILTERS MAKE THE TOP TWELVE FOR DECENT EXPOSURE - February 9, 2010

The Non-Filters found out at 1:00 pm today that they made the cut for WKQQ's Decent Exposure.  Twelve bands were chosen that will compete on four different nights at Bar Lexington.  The winners from those four nights will face off on a later Friday to be named the final winner.  The Non-Filters's fans, who they adore, have given the band so much.  Dates for the battles will be chosen on Friday during a meeting between The Non-Filters, the other eleven bands, WKQQ, and Bar Lexington.  Wish the band luck, and do your best to attend the night, or hopefully nights, they compete.  Audience votes will once again choose the winner.

VOTE FOR THE NON-FILTERS ONCE A DAY NOW THROUGH FEBRUARY 8TH - February 3, 2010

MATCHING SUITS - January 24, 2010

There have been numerous sightings of The Non-Filters this weekend around the central KY area.  Lee Sadler, Bill Shewmaker, and Eric Baker did a surprise performance of Michael Jackson's classic 'Billie Jean' during a show by the band Straight Shot in Lawrenceburg Saturday night, leaving the crowd in shock.  One woman at the show said, "it came out of nowhere, then they were just gone."  Others have claimed to have spotted the entire band at various clothing stores in the area, trying on matching suits.  The owner of a local western wear store said he could not confirm any details, but that a 'well-known local band' had come in his establishment to get fitted for western suits.  Presumably, the suits would be for the Non-Filters's show at The Grapevine on February 5th.

THE GRAPEVINE - January 19, 2010

After far too long, The Non-Filters will be returning to the Grapevine in Lexington on February 5th.  Asked to comment about what made the venue special to each of them, none of the band could remember any details.  Come out and relive the past with the band.

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY SMOKING BAN - November 19, 2009

The University of Kentucky put a campus wide smoking ban into effect today.  Not just inside, outside, too.  They even tried for surrounding sidewalks and perimeter areas, but the city of Lexington is still thinking about whether to let them have it.

The University of Kentucky is a leader in tobacco research.  They have earned a reputation in agriculture throughout the world as innovators in tobacco production.  They produce a large amount of tobacco on University-owned farms.

If all goes according to planned, perhaps we can hope for a campus-wide coffee ban as early as 2013, with a pork ban to follow in late 2015.  Many other legal, non-mind-impairing products certainly need to considered for the coming decade.

KIDNAPPING PLOT - October 5, 2009

There has been a kidnapping plot against The Non-Filters's lead singer, Eric Baker, and it has succeeded.  The group who outlined the conspiracy abducted Baker at Wal-Mart in Lawrenceburg, KY on Sunday afternoon.  Witnesses say the alleged kidnappers asked Baker, who was minding his own business, smoking a Marlboro red in front of the grocery entrance, to follow them to their van to see a surround sound system they were selling at below cost.  When Baker leaned in to get a closer look at the hifi wonder, they shoved him in and hit him over the head.  Baker has not been seen since.  Bassist, Lee Sadler, received a call from the alleged kidnappers, but they hung up after realizing that Sadler had notified authorities.  It is unclear who will perform the lead vocals for this coming Saturday's show if Baker is not released, but the band has announced that the show must go on.

COURAGE - September 8, 2009

Why doesn't anyone have the courage to say what they mean anymore?  Don't lie to yourself.  It's not about anyone not wanting to hurt your feelings.  It's a simple lack of courage.  It is better to tell someone the truth, maybe somewhat sugar-coated, but the truth nonetheless, than to tell a blatant lie that might lead someone to a series of poor decisions that lead to disaster.  Be honest, not brutally, just honest.  Don't leave people hanging just cause you don't have the balls to say what you mean.  In the long run, it will work to your favor.
